Top 10 Cozy Games for Beginner Gamers

A Personal Awakening: Finding New Horizons

For the longest time, my gaming world revolved around one cherished gem – The Sims. Living with a mobility disability and not having the fanciest set of hands, I believed that playing other games was just not in the cards for me, not even cozy games. That was my truth for over 30 years – The Sims was my go-to game.

Now, enter my wonderful hubby, a true-blue gamer from day one. When we first met, he made it clear that he’s a lifelong gamer, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Fast forward through many years of togetherness, and he kept urging me to explore beyond The Sims. I’d always argue that other games demanded way too much hand movement and coordination that I simply didn’t possess.

The Gentle Nudge: Discovering Stardew Valley

But, persistent as ever, he kept bringing up this game called Stardew Valley. He insisted it was straightforward enough for me to give it a shot. My stubborn self resisted for a while, but after years of his “gentle” nagging, I finally caved. “Fine, I’ll try it just to prove you wrong,” I said.

Guess what happened next? I dove headfirst into Stardew Valley for a solid two weeks with him. Red eyes, stiff joints, and all, I was hooked! To avoid sounding overly dramatic, let me just say my life took a bit of a turn.

Don’t worry, things have balanced out since then. I’ve developed a bit healthier relationship with gaming, taking breaks, and caring for my eyes. However, sometimes my husband still needs to remind me to blink.

Embracing New Adventures: The Cozy Games Genre

Post-Stardew Valley, my hunger for more games led me to the wonderful world of “Cozy Games.” Two years down the road, I’ve explored numerous titles, even discovering handy gadgets like the Stream Deck and Stream Deck Pedal to help me play even more games I previously thought were too difficult for me.

While Stardew Valley will forever hold a special place in my heart, I’ve stumbled upon a whole bunch of other games that I absolutely adore. In this post, I’m excited to share my top 10 cozy game recommendations for anyone seeking easy, cozy gaming experiences.
