I have some important and somewhat bittersweet news regarding the Nintendo Switch port of Coral Island. As many of you know, Coral Island has been a beloved project for a lot of us, with its beautiful aesthetics and engaging gameplay. Unfortunately, recent events have thrown a wrench into the works.

Humble Games' Restructuring

Humble Games, our cherished publisher since 2017, has announced a significant restructuring of their operations. They’ve assured everyone that this decision was made to ensure the long-term stability of their projects and partners, but it comes with some immediate challenges. Sadly, this restructuring has left the console versions of Coral Island, especially the Switch port, in a bit of a limbo.

Stairway Games' Response

The awesome folks at Stairway Games, the developers behind Coral Island, have shared their frustrations and uncertainty in light of this news. They’ve been transparent about their current situation: due to publishing agreements and NDAs, they've been unable to share as much as they would like about the ongoing issues.

Impact on Updates and Hotfixes

Humble Games was responsible for all things related to the console versions of Coral Island, including pushing out hotfixes and updates. With the restructuring, there's a lot of uncertainty about how and when these updates will be managed moving forward.

Message to Switch Backers

For Switch backers, this is understandably a major disappointment. The lack of backend permissions means Stairway Games can’t push updates or new content to the Switch at the moment.
